01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

One of the finest pleasures here is leaning over the counter to inhale the aroma directly from jars of coffee beans, discussing flavor preferences with the barista to decide on the cup of the day. Located a short walk from Kita-Ikebukuro Station on the Tobu Tojo Line, WAVY COFFEE ROASTERS is a specialty roastery cafe where beans collected from across the globe are roasted in-house. The selection includes Geisha varieties and competition-winning lots, presenting distinct profiles from bright fruitiness to floral nuances, each carefully brewed by hand upon ordering.

When you order a pour-over for dine-in, it is served in two different vessels: a wine glass and a ceramic cup. Drawing the wine glass close to the nose highlights the delicate rising aromas, while sipping from the small ceramic cup brings out the mellow sweetness and rich mouthfeel, letting you compare how vessel shape alters the drink's character. As the coffee cools from freshly poured, its acidity softens and a syrup-like finish emerges, inviting you to savor the gradual shifts over time.

An enticing lineup of baked sweets is on hand to accompany the coffee. The classic Basque cheesecake and a limited-quantity Uji matcha Basque cheesecake are moist and rich, pairing naturally with the acidity of fruity beans. Fluffy strawberry chiffon sandwiches filled with low-sweetness whipped cream and fresh fruit are also available, alongside chocolate terrine accompanied by berry sauce.

With white walls and wood-toned tables, the space maintains a calm, unhurried atmosphere across its counter and table seating. Business hours run from 12:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, with regular closures on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Takeout is available, and whole beans can be purchased to enjoy at home whenever a particular roast catches your interest.
